Announcing our new Community Organizer, Eva Mas!

We are thrilled to welcome Eva to our Organizing Team as Community Organizer, with a focus on housing!

Eva was raised by Chilean and Catalan parents who met in the Bay Area in the 1970s while building international solidarity in response to the dictatorships in their home countries. Growing up between the U.S. and Barcelona, and later living in Portugal and Turkey, Eva learned early that while communities and contexts are different, people around the world face many of the same struggles for housing, dignity, and human rights. As a teenager, they joined housing protests in Barcelona and remained connected to Spain's housing movement as communities resisted the wave of foreclosures and the rise of corporate landlords following the 2008 financial crisis.

Eva has called San Francisco home since 2012. Soon after arriving, they became involved in tenant organizing and anti-displacement efforts while working alongside unhoused neighbors. They participated in the city's first tech bus blockades, supported the Plaza 16 Coalition's fight against the Monster in the Mission, and helped organize San Francisco's International Action Day Against Blackstone in partnership with the Right to the City Alliance, the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, and Spain's Plataforma por una Vivienda Digna.

Eva spent years as a bilingual peer advocate and case manager at Hospitality House, Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, the Mission SRO Collaborative, and the City's first Navigation Center. They later led community engagement initiatives across the Bay Area, partnering with residents to ensure that people most affected by public policies had meaningful opportunities to shape them.

Eva believes that seniors and people with disabilities are the experts in their own lives and that lasting change comes from organizing together to improve their living conditions. They are excited to support Senior and Disability Action members as they build collective power, strengthen community, and fight for safe, affordable, and dignified housing.

Outside of work, you'll usually find Eva parenting an energetic four-year-old, playing music, or studying languages.
